Background
In 2006, Bishop Eugene Murisa, pastor of the Highway of Holiness Church (HHC) and long time friend of Jesus Alive Gospel Outreach came to Moshi, Tanzania with a proposal to the Jesus Alive founder, Peter Pretorius. He proposed a radio station in Mwanza. Peter gave it some thought and said that if Bishop Eugene was able to get the radio station registered then Jesus Alive will come on board as a partner. Bishop Eugene left that meeting and returned 2 years later with the radio station fully registered. Jesus Alive came on board, an MOU was signed on 20 July 2009 and HHC Alive FM 91.9 was birthed.
Tasked to oversee the establishment and equipping of the radio station, Johan Boshoff, Chief Operating Officer of Jesus Alive Gospel Outreach (JAGO) met with Bishop Eugene to discuss the approach and location. Johan also contacted Dr Roelf Petersen (MD, Radio Pulpit/ Chairman UCB Africa) who immediately offered valued support and mentorship. With the guidance and advice of the Radio Pulpit team the right equipment was ordered, delivered and installed and after only a year and a half the first program aired on 25 December 2010. The official opening and dedication took place in July 2011.
